My Cup Runs Over: The Ultimate and Final Deception Page 2
“Sure, I can understand that and I’m sure Carlotta's mother isn’t going to be too interested in who you’re bringing. The only thing that’s going to be on her mind is getting to know her daughter and Trey’s friends. I don’t have a problem with it at all and I’m sure Trey and Carlotta won’t either.”
“Well, on that note, I guess I’ll see you when we get there.”
“Sure Andre, I’ll see you then man.”
When JJ hung up the phone, he immediately called Trey to ask if he and Vivian could ride along with him.
“Hey man, are you sure you’ve got enough room in that jeep of yours for me and the wifey?” JJ asked.
“Don’t worry I’ll call you the minute we’re out the door.”
“Okay, we’ll be waiting.”
The evening was perfect, although it was still the middle of the summer, as the sun began to set. The first to arrive at Carlotta’s house were her two closest friends Jessica and Amelia. They helped place all the food on the table as the guests began to arrive. By the time Trey showed with JJ and Vivian, Carlotta was very excited. T-Bird arrived with her band close to 7pm with Andre and his date just minutes behind. Finally, Q walked in.
T-Bird walked over to him. “Oh so you did make it back? I’m impressed. So how is my cuz?”
He gave her a little smile. “A little disappointed but she’ll be okay,” he answered.
While socializing, everyone began reminiscing on the previous rehearsals, while Carlotta and Trey began making rounds to introduce her mother to everyone.
“Mother this is T-Bird.” She said while holding her by the hand.
“Oh...so this is the singer. Gorgeous I might add. You remind me of a cousin back home in Mississippi.”
“And mother this is Q, one of Trey’s best friends,” Carlotta continued.
“My goodness Trey, you have such good-looking friends.”
“And this is T-Bird’s manager, Andre and his guest; um…”
“Kim,” he stepped in to say, not wanting her to feel embarrassed by not knowing her name.
“Thank you darling. Yes mother this is Kim. Andre extended his hand to offer a shake while Kim expressed the pleasure of meeting her.
“Well, let’s enjoy tonight. I’m so excited you are all here!"
Carlotta and Trey walked over to JJ and Vivian as they sat on the sofa with Andre and Kim to join in the conversation taking place.
“Um…Excuse me a minute... JJ, Vivian this is my mother...”
Immediately her mother interrupted. “So you’re the lawyer that owns the club?"
All JJ could do was shake his head as he gave her a hug.
“It’s so nice to meet you too,” he said. “You have a wonderful daughter and I must say, I’m so glad to have her as a new member of our family.”
Her mother then directed her attention to Vivian.
“Well, well, I get to save you for last my beloved sweetheart. Carlotta told me how beautiful you were and she was right. Now I see. I also hear you’re an actress?”
Carlotta’s mother was as light-skinned as they come and, although her father was white, it was obvious where she obtained her looks. Her mother’s southern roots branded her, identifying that she came from a white bloodline.
“Why yes, as a matter of fact, I just finished a movie that will be coming out soon.” Vivian responded.
For just a minute, Vivian felt as if her heart were about to leap out her chest, thinking somehow Carlotta's mother had heard what happened with the foundation account. However, it was only that she'd heard Vivian was ready to hit the big screen.
She invited everyone to the table to eat while admiring her daughter and Trey. Carlotta was her only child and she was depending on her to have babies. If Carlotta had even guessed at what her mother was thinking, she would have freaked because that was not in her plans. She wanted to complete her MBA and pursue her career goals while enjoying being with Trey. Also, she was paying her dues working at the U.N. One step at a time was the right thing to do until everything worked itself into place.
Trey couldn’t believe the love Carlotta’s mother was showing everyone simply because he was dating her daughter. If there was ever a family he was going to be a part of, her mom was setting the stage, letting him know he was welcomed.
Meanwhile, Andre had the whole band laughing out of control, sharing jokes around the dinner table while Jessica, Amelia and Carlotta went into the kitchen to get the dessert. Afterwards her mother sat next to T-Bird.
“So, Carlotta tells me you are starting your tour on Monday?” T-Bird couldn’t help but smile while admiring her southern accent; it was stronger than Carlotta’s.
“Yes I am.”
“And how long will you be gone once your tour starts?” She seemed genuinely interested.
“I’m not sure, but I would have to say at least three months,” T-Bird answered.
Carlotta's mom took a deep breath while displaying her beautiful smile.
“I wish you the best in your career.
Success Is Hard Work
By the time T-Bird arrived back home, there was a message waiting from Desiree.
“Hello cuz, it’s me. Sorry I couldn’t make the dinner party. It couldn’t have happened at a worst time, covering this damn championship game. I’ve been busy since the minute I stepped off the plane and I’m sure by now you know my stomach is in knots being here in Phoenix, while yawl are having such a good time. I can’t wait to see you..." There was a brief pause before Desiree continued.
"...And cuz, babe, I hope you’re not still mad at me. Spending time with Q was more exciting than you could have ever imagined. I know you understand how it feels, just trying to keep up with Darnell. I'm really falling hard for Q and hope you give us a chance. We want to make everyone comfortable about us being together... I also want you to know that we’ve talked about you and Darnell and he’s going to talk to the guys and ask them to just give you some space. You deserve some privacy to handle your business girl. If being with Darnell makes you happy, we should support you 100%. So please call me before you leave on Monday. Okay? Love you.”
T-Bird was so overwhelmed with the message she couldn’t wait until morning and immediately called Desiree back. The first thing she wanted to do was thank her for convincing Q to tell her closest friends to let her do her own thing. She loved Desiree and nothing was going to come between them; she also wanted the best for her cuz. If loving Q was going to contribute to making her life complete then she was going to have to live with it.
“Hello Desiree? It’s me T-Bird, what’s up girl?”
“Hey cuz. I was just thinking about you and hoping you got my message.”
“Of course I did silly! I wish you were at the dinner party too. I must say, Trey’s girlfriend Carlotta has a beautiful mother. We really had a good time. Everybody is really tripping about the tour. Carlotta’s mother is too much! She has a lot of wisdom and a lot of fun to be around too.”
“Girl, don’t tell me anymore because I don’t think I can take it.” Desiree continued. “So have you heard from Darnell?”
“Yeah...he called saying the interview with DDG was great and that I didn’t have a care in the world with them touching my show.” She continued.
“Girl, I could have told you that! But I have to tell you Hip Hop is really creating its own genre of music. But there’s nothing like listening to sultry soul music that makes your toes curl,” Desiree continued.
They both began to laugh.
“Now concerning Darnell, would you please live a little? If he’s not the one for you at least you can say you had some fun for once. After all, he is a handsome man and at least appears to have it together. I just hope the book is as good as the cover. And if he isn’t all he appears to be, at least you tried to read a few pages, but I have to reiterate, my God the cover looks good!”
“You’re right cuz and that’s why I couldn’t resist opening it. I guess I’ll keep reading the pages unt
il I can’t any longer.”
They laughed again.
“Well my dear, I’m waiting for Q to call to tell me what time he’s leaving to come back up here, so I’ll be talking to you later. I love you cuz.”
“I love you too” T-Bird replied.
When Desiree hung up the phone the only thing on her mind was Q and his return to Phoenix before he began helping her cuz with her tour and travel arrangements.
The bottle of cognac left in her room, compliments of the hotel, was still sitting in the bucket on a fresh bed of ice when she opened it and poured the biggest glass she could find while the radio played T-Bird's new song (Lover Lover). The more she sipped, the more relaxed she became, as she anticipated Q’s call.
What Desiree didn't know was he had no intention of calling her to say anything. Especially after fucking one of her staff members. Now he was riddled with guilt on his way back to Phoenix. He had a few tricks of his own up his sleeve trying to keep her on edge as much as she was doing to him. When he arrived, he arranged for a florist to deliver three dozen roses to the front desk and had the concierge hold them until he arrived.
After receiving them, he anxiously proceeded to her room, knocking on the door. “Hello ma'am, it's room service.”
“Room service? I didn’t order anything. Well... just a minute, I’ll be right there.” She said while feeling the effects of her drink as she stumbled towards the door.
“Whatever it is, just leave it at the door.” Q knew he had to think quickly in order to get her to open the door.
“Ma'am, it’s compliments of the hotel and I’ll need your signature.”
She looked through the peephole to see the man talking on the other side, then decided to open the door.
All she could see were the flowers on top of the serving cart. She then opened the door wider to get a better view of the flowers when Q made his presence known.
“Oh my God! I don’t believe you! I am speechless.”
He continued to stand in the doorway with a smile on his face.
“Well, aren’t you going to let me in?” Q asked grinning.
“Well yes. I mean sure...Come on in here,” she laughed, attempting to pull him into the room.
“Oh my God! The flowers are so beautiful. I can’t believe how fast you got back here. I guess I’m that important to you after all..." she smiled, holding one of the long stem roses in her hand.
“Of course you are. All I could think of was the smell of you and how you fell asleep while I rubbed your feet.”
Desiree sat on the love seat, picking up her glass to take another sip. “Would you like one?” she asked.
“No...not right now. Just come to me and let me smell you...”
Without hesitation, she got up and walked over to stand in front of him with her mouth still full of the last bit of cognac, giving him a kiss. There was nothing more he wanted than to feel the taste of her lips pressing against his. Even the more, to capture the essence of her aroma again and find a way to not think about Vita.
The more they kissed, the more he wanted to make love to her as he began to touch her body. After the flowers and drink she was having, Desiree couldn’t wait to feel him inside her. She unzipped his pants, took out his dick, pushed him down on the sofa and sat on it for ten minutes of satisfying her sexual appetite. The moment she began to cum, her legs began to tremble as she screamed out, digging her nails into his arms.
Her heart beating out of control, Desiree was unable to move from the sensation still throbbing through her body. Conscious of the time, she attempted to get up to go to the bathroom for a quick shower in order to get back to the stadium.
“Come on... if we leave now, we’ll be just in time for the opening highlights,” she said, grabbing a rose and taking him by the hand.
Q still had one other surprise waiting when they arrived at the stadium.
With a full house, she made sure he was well taken care in the VIP booth before leaving to finalize her last interview.
"Babe, they want me to sit with the commentators below. This will be one of the best reports the magazine is going to have. I’m going to make them a lot of money.”
“Sure go ahead baby and I’ll see you when you get back.” Q was proud of her grind.
The timing couldn’t have been more perfect! Q had paid a pretty penny to have a message displayed on the marques over the stadium just before the end of the 2nd quarter. Desiree was well ahead of her schedule and was able to complete her assignment and spend the remaining time with Q watching the game.
It was half-time, just before the featured event and the score was 66-74 in favor of the Phoenix. Suddenly all the lights started to flash in the stadium, ending the quarter with a message illuminated the screens.
* Desiree, My Love Is Yours * Your Man Q. *
The crowd began to whistle while everyone in the booth began pointing at her. Nothing could compare to that moment as she covered her face in the midst of the excitement.
“Oh my God Q... I'm so floored. What in the world is going on?” Q just smiled at her while putting his arms around her.
“Hey, enjoy the moment. Every woman in here is wishing she had a man that could do something as clever. That’s how much you to me.”
It was the icing on the cake, confirming Q belonged to her. The only thing on Desiree's mind was giving Q all the sex he could handle. As they left the stadium, driving away in a convertible rental, Q knew he had accomplished making Desiree feel like she was on top of the world.
Suddenly he pulled over. “What’s wrong babe? She asked. He just looked at her.
“Open your nasal passages. Don’t you smell all that aroma?" He was referring to the BBQ smoke permeating the night air.
“I’m getting me a sandwich. Can you handle getting one? I mean, you’re use to caviar and all.” While laughing at her.
“Oh, so you're implying I don’t know anything about the hood? Let’s not forget baby, I’m from New Orleans. Trust me, it doesn’t get any more hood than that.” Still laughing and displaying the dimple in his cheek, he shook his head.
“Look, I know you know how to get down. You may be from New Orleans, but I know you didn’t just grow up on catfish, shrimp, red beans and rice.” They both laughed hard before getting out of the car.
Being the weather was just as hot as it was in New Jersey or Atlanta, after eating, Q couldn’t wait to get back to the hotel to take a shower to cool off and clean the residue of sauce from his fingers. Looking at Desiree’s thighs didn’t make it any easier as he placed a roaming hand under her dress.
“I see you’re having a hard time keeping your hands from under my dress,” she said as she sat even closer to him.
“Yeah, I’ll admit that..” he replied while rotating his eyes from the highway to looking at her, “...what do you expect for me to do, wearing a dress like that, showing off them legs and thighs?”
As they pulled up to the front of the hotel, Desiree squeezed her legs together. The sensation of Q’s hand between her thighs was making her wet as they got out of the car. With his bag in one hand and Desiree holding the other, they rushed into the elevator.
As soon as the elevator doors opened, they rushed putting the key in the lock, Desiree immediately taking his bag, throwing it to the floor, as they simultaneously began taking off each other’s clothes. Without hesitation, Q bit her neck as she attempted to wrap one leg around him while he cupped her ample ass. All he could think about was the night they'd had in Atlantic City, experiencing the same scenario, except this time there were no limits. She directed his mouth to her breasts as the foreplay became more intense and her pussy throbbed, she pulled him down onto the floor and sat on top of him.
Impatiently, she began riding his dick while watching him breathe heavily, attempting to make him cum. However, she was unable to resist having her own orgasm as her legs began to shake, grabbing him by the neck. Unable to move, she held him tighter.
Q attempted to re
gain his composure still holding her with his head between her breasts, as she lay on top of him.
“Where’s your heart now baby. Huh?” he asked. Reminding her of the same question she'd asked while spending the night in the hotel after T-Bird's rehearsal. Her body continued to tremble while she was in silence.
“It’s right here with you and almost beating out of my chest. Damn…babe... You have all of me and I’m going to do everything possible to keep it that way," she then began humming the lyrics to T-Bird's song. Q was once again fascinated with the thought that he was listening to her cuz. Softly he commented.
“Woman I’ve never given anyone my heart...but you.."
“Is that right?”
“Yeah right..” he answered.
“Well, we all have to lose something in life. I’ve given you mine so now we’re even. You know I can’t wait for you to come to Atlanta. There’s so much I want to show you. I just know you’ll consider relocating afterwards.”
Listening to Desiree express her desires provoked him to interrupt.
“Wait a minute, let’s not talk about that right now. Let’s just appreciate what we’re creating one step at a time. Eventually we’ll get there.”
There was another moment of silence as she realized she was speaking too soon. Nevertheless, Desiree was used to being in control and getting what she wanted. However, it was time to consider only what was going to work best for them because Q was not about to uproot his business.
“I’m sorry baby. I guess I just got excited over the whole idea. I mean, I can’t wait for you to come. I just want to open my whole world to you..but you’re right, we can take one step at a time.”
As much as he was used to being led by his ego, he was becoming vulnerable to her and didn’t know how to handle meeting his match. Despite the newness and challenges, they savored just being together because in the morning Desiree was going back to Atlanta. She had to choose which articles would be placed in the magazine from her coverage of the championship games. As for Q, he had to get back to New Jersey to prepare the travel plans for T-Bird’s long awaited tour. He also hoped Vita was long gone, on her way back to Atlanta and keeping her mouth shut about their one-time indiscretion.
